CURRENT FISING REPORT – 10/10/26

Fall Fishing is here!

Below Holter Dam has been fishing really well. We are starting to see Baetis now that this river is below 60 degrees. 

Terrestrial Patterns are still on the menu as far as dry fly fishing is concerned (hoppers, ants, beetles) but are starting to give way to the cooler temps. Baetis are around in the mornings and fish are starting to look up for them. We have had a couple of October Caddis sightings on the river lately and should come on strong with the cooler temps. 

Nymph fishing has been pretty consistent through out the day as well. Sow bugs, worms and scuds seem to be the main feed both deep and shallow. With the BWO’s starting to show up, try your favorite patterns as well.

Streamers are doing pretty good as well and should get better with the water temps. Grab your meat stick and favorite streamers and give it a try!

Below Hauser dam is fishing great as well. Some of the same patterns as below Holter Dam will work below Hauser. Leeches are still getting attention along with sows and scuds. Swinging streamers has also produced some nice fish

All the lakes around Helena are fishing as well. Balanced Leeches, Chironomids, Scuds and Damsels are what we are selling the most in the shop for the lakes.

The weeds are letting go and there is grass in the water column, but fishing is still doing well at this point. Come on into the shop and we will help you find the right Flies for the job!
